The popularity of 5 string basses has steadily increased over the last few years. Beginners are now starting on 5 string models. Of course, 4 string basses are still popular, and the choice has to be with the player.
It is important to know, especially for the beginning bassist, that PMC has a large assortment of instruments available with "packages" that include the accessories that you need to get started. Many manufacturer’s use special run, poorer quality instruments for their packages. Choices of models and finishes are limited. "Packaged" basses are seldom opened, inspected, tuned, and adjusted because of the inconvenience and time to unpackage and repackage. At Playford Music, we design most of our own bass packages.
