Here are some straightforward suggestions for care of your guitar.Playford Music Co wants your musical experience to be a good one, so look over the following to help insure a long life for your instrument. |
|
1. When not playing, store on stand (for short periods), or in case.
2. Always transport your guitar in the case. 3. Change strings often, with the proper type and gauge of string for your guitar. Change a minimum of every two months or 40 hours of playing time. Old strings exert more tension on the neck, tailpiece, and body of the guitar, which can cause severe damage to those areas if restringing is ignored. 4. Periodically lubricate gears, screws, and other metal parts of the instrument to increase ease of movement, and decrease tendency to corrode. 5. Do not subject your guitar to intense heat or humidity, or to intense cold or dryness. Use a guitar humidifier in cold, dry weather. 6. Polish your guitar frequently with polish designed for guitars. Clean (and oil ebony and rosewood) fingerboards periodically. 7. Tune your guitar to proper pitch (from 1st to 6th-E-B-G-D-A-E—12 string 1ST TO 6TH pairs-D-A-F-C-G-D—Bass 1st to 4th G-D-A-E). The first string is the smallest string that makes the highest pitch. If you intend to store the guitar for a long period of time, it may be advisable to tune slightly lower. 8. Have your guitar checked by an experienced guitar technician yearly (we do not charge for this). 9. Tighten any loose parts(potentiometers, jacks, etc.) before they cause other damage. 10. If you don’t know what you are doing, take your guitar to a technician who does |
